2012년, '2012 대구아트스퀘어'의 ‘대구아트페어’는 5회째로 한국, 일본, 이탈리아, 독일, 홍콩 등 5개국 119개 화랑이 참여하는 역대 최대 규모로 개최됐다.
대구아트스퀘어는 국내외 화랑들이 참여해 미술시장의 다양한 흐름을 보여주는 ‘대구아트페어’와 작년에 추가된 40세 미만의 국내외 청년작가들의 창의적이고 실험적인 작품을 선보이는 ‘청년미술 프로젝트’로 구성되었다. 또한 지역성을 벗어나 국내외 미술의 경향과 흐름을 보여주는 문화행사로서의 의미를 가지고자 매년 교류전을 확대 기획하게 되었다.
